Projects

Full Portfolio

As a student engineer, I have worked on a wide array of projects requiring mechanical, electrical, software and leadership skills. View all my best projects and their stories here.

Featured: A 250mm drone I built and designed in CAD. Click on the flashing icons to learn more about the drone!

Electrical

A collection of the electrical aspects of my projects - including Circuit Designs, Soldered circuits and PCB designs.

Featured: A circuit I made in Altium that controls an ovens temperature using motion sensing and a custom GUI I made in Python.

Mechanical

Despite studying electrical engineering I love getting involved with the mechanical design aspects of projects. Here's a collection of the mechanical parts of my projects - including 3D designs and renders, simulations and 3D prints from my Ender 3 Pro 3D printer.

Featured: A rover that drives by itself to locations over 300 meters away using a compass and GPS. I also wrote the code in C++ to drive this! Drag the image to get a full 360 view of the CAD.

Software

My best software projects, including code in embedded C, C++, Assembly 8051, Python, and Verilog.

Featured: A Tic-Tac-Toe UI that lets users play against an intelligent computer or another human player!

Other Work

Beyond engineering, I also enjoy Marketing, Finances and Leadership! Here's some of my non-technical work - including poster design, video editing and articles I wrote.

Featured: A promotional video I made for my university design team - to view the full video with music and voice over check out my other works page.

About

About Me

Electrical Engineering student | UBC Unmanned Aircraft Systems Captain | Avid Learner

15665440_1549436885072850_29394904821577

I am a 3rd year Electrical Engineering student at the University Of British Columbia. I am currently looking for internship opportunities, and through this portfolio I hope to show you my personality, my skills and my experience.

During my Electrical Engineering journey, I have developed skills in software development, circuit design and critical knowledge of electrical theory. Through my personal projects and university design team, I have added several multidisciplinary skills to my arsenal, such as mechanical design, leadership and management, marketing and much more. I see myself as a multidimensional engineer, who can apply himself to a variety of complex tasks. I am fluent in Python, C, C++, Verilog, Assembly 8051 and JavaScript. I also have a lot of experience in Solidworks design (Fusion 360 too), and am currently working towards a professional level certification

Beyond the technical skills, I have a strong set of "soft"skills. I have been privileged enough to work with UBC Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) - a design team composed of 65 students specializing in creating industry standard Unmanned Aerial solutions. Through my commitment and innovation, I ascended to the role of team Captain. In this role, I am in charge of leading a one year long project comprising of four sub projects: An Unmanned Aerial Vehicle, a ground control station, system software, and an autonomous rover. This experience is building up my technical skills, as I get to be involved several projects that require software and hardware. It is also building my "soft" skills, as my captain duties lend themselves to the development of communication, management and leadership skills. I am learning daily about how to create a positive atmosphere for my team, where every individual can flourish.

Now that we've finished with all the engineering related parts about me, here's a little about me outside of Engineering. I am a huge fan of Football (soccer, as I have come to call it), music and literature. Any of these topics gets me excited! It's always good to bring a few Football debates into the work environment!

Harsh Rajoria

Electrical Engineering Student | Research Assistant | Lab Engineer

Marko is an incredibly resourceful, hardworking person who can pick up new skills very quickly. For our embedded systems project, he made a comprehensive graphical user interface (GUI) on a tight schedule despite not having a formal background in the relevant Python libraries. What impressed me the most was his ability to extract useful information from online resources available to him and filter out the unnecessary details in order to deliver his tasks on time. He is very ambitious and makes sure to strive for the best design specifications whether it be by spending extra hours or using his creativity to implement bonus functionalities. I would highly recommend him to anyone looking for a hardworking individual who is willing to take risks and adapt to a diverse range of skill sets that might be necessary in a work setting.

Marko and I have worked on many lab assignments together. On top of showcasing a hands-on approach and willingness to "get his hands dirty", he amazes me with how approachable and open to communication he is. Marko is probably one of the few special people that make you want to work with him. His rapid rise to captaincy at UAS is the perfect example of this. From everything that I have seen about this Marko, I can safely state that he is a natural leader. Always eager to help, listen, and support a colleague, classmate, or a friend

Marko is one of the best engineers I have worked with during my time as a student at UBC. I have worked on multiple projects with him, and have always been impressed with his versatility, hard-working attitude, and his innate ability to know what works and what doesn't. He is very creative in his solutions, and is able to deliver complex electrical, mechanical and software systems. He is also a great leader, who takes initiative and can create a very productive team dynamic. I would recommend him to anyone looking for a productivity powerhouse, and a fun addition to a team.

Electrical Engineering Student | UBC UAS Mechatronics Engineer

Marko is the go-to person when it comes to complex engineering projects. He can take a problem, design a solution around it and then implement that solution - all within a tight time frame. He has a keen eye for beautiful aesthetics, and always focuses on a great front end design. I am always impressed by his ability to be a multidimensional engineer - capable of operating in many roles (Mechanical, Software, Electrical, Leadership) . He is the guy you go to when you have an engineering problem!

Marko makes things happen. It's as simple as that. As a member of UAS, I have seen the amount of work he puts in and his extraordinary levels of innovation. He works on every single project at UAS, big or small - and understands them from mechanical, electrical, software and financial perspectives. He is easily the best leader I have come across in my life, and would highly recommend him to anyone looking for an extremely capable self-starter.
